Ukrainian Football Prediction League Rules
Basic Concept:
Every week, you will choose the winner and
score for various Ukrainian soccer matches. These matches may include contests from the Ukrainian Premier League, Ukrainian Cup, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup,
WC-2002 Qualifying, and any other Ukrainian soccer related match-ups. You will be awarded points for each correct game that you predict. The player with the most points at
the end of the season will be the winner.
General Rules:
Predictions must be sent before the deadline of each round. The player with the most points upon completion of all rounds will be the winner. If there is a tie after all rounds have been played, the winner will be the
player who attained the most points in the last week of the league. If there is still a
tie, then the winner will be the one who attained the most points in the second to last week of the season, and so on. I have the final say on all disputes concerning league rules and scoring.
How the Points will be counted:
Players will receive 5 points for predicting the exact score, 3.5 points for predicting the correct difference, and 3 points for predicting the correct result. A sample of the scoring is available here. Players who fail to send their predictions by the round deadline will receive extrapolation points based on the following formula:
(# Points Gained * 0.90)
------------------------ * Missed Games
(Total Games Played)
This extrapolation method allows players who have missed a round or two to stay competitive in the league. "Points Gained" is the number of points a player has accumulated in the league. "Total Games Played" is the total number of games played from the beginning of the season, counting any missed games of the player. Therefore, the more games you miss, the harsher you will be penalized.
Note: You must send predictions for all games that are held within a round. You cannot pick and choose 6 or 7 games to predict, and leave the others blank to receive extrapolation points for them. All
incomplete forms will not be accepted.
How to Join:
Season 7 of the UFPL is set to begin on July 15, 2001, but you can enter the league at any point in the
season. To register, please
fill out this form. You must provide a valid e-mail address in order to
have your predictions counted.
It is also very important that you use the exact same name that you
signed up with throughout the entire season. Only one set of predictions is
allowed per individual. It is considered abuse if any of the UFPL rules are
broken. That person who is found abusing will promptly be removed from the
league. Prizes will only be sent to the full name that was registered. UFPL
