Stadium Specifications
Metalist Arena
The name of the stadium - Municipal Regional Sports Center "Metalist". It will have 42000 seats after reconstruction. The modern Regional Sports Center has Western, Northern and Southern covered tribunes; it combines medical-regenerative center, sports halls, hotel, sports fields and clay training football field (the size - 110 х 85), as well as a mini-football field with artificial covering. The central field (105 х 68 m) is equipped with heating. Illumination - 1 800 lux.
History
Construction of the stadium has begun in 1925 under A.Mikojan personal instruction (the architect - Z.Permilovsky, 1925-1927; reconstruction architect - J.Tabakov, 1970).
Original name - "Tractor". Opening of stadium - on September, 12th, 1926. Since 1940 the name was changed to "Dzerzhinets". Since 1967 it has the modern name - "Metalist". In 1961 - 1967 Western tribune was reconstructed. In 1970 - 1974 Southern tribune has been built. Since 1998 - reconstruction of East tribune. A record of attendance - 42 000 spectators (September, 23rd, 1980, the USSR First League Championship match "Metalist" - "Tavria").
 Oleh Volodymyrovych Blokhin
(born November 5, 1952), was named European Footballer of the Year in 1975. He played during most of his career for Dynamo Kiev, becoming the USSR national championship's all-time leader and goalscorer with 211 goals, as well as making more appearances than any other player with 432 appearances. He won the championship 8 times. He
